Hello everyone! I have a question. Is the anything special or different with changing the trans fluid on a 4spd auto? I would say I know enough about cars to do it but I was just wondering before I do it is there is anything different about this one. Also does it have a filter that can be changed. any tips would be great, Thanks!!!!

Good question. Let's hope it's not as bad as the spark plugs.

only thing u need is a long thin funnel to get the fluid in . Other than that its a simple removal of the bolt drain and fill.

^^ Yep My drain bolt had a crush washer on it, it was a bit bigger than the one for the oil drain. I've drained it twice with the same washer next time i'll change it tho

If you are doing the fluid changes yourself, you may wanna do them more often than the manual states because some of the old fluid stays in the torque converter. Dealerships have equipment to completely exchange the fluid.

When I had my wife's Altima changed at the dealership they drained the fluid and filled it back up. They run it for a couple minutes letting it mix well, then drain it again. They fill it up to level and run it again. They checked the fluid level. That leaves roughly 1/4 of the old fluid in there and 3/4 new. Otherwise you can get the dealer to change the fluid 100% if they have the correct machine to do it.

I believe he's changing an automatic transmission's fluid not CVT. However, how often does a CVT's fluid need to be changed?

Following the premium maintenance schedule, you should change the CVT fluid every 60,000 miles. And I heard it can only be done by the dealer since the fluid is not the same as ATF and is proprietary.

2007 VERSA , if unsure have dealer check your vin# if non cvt or cvt , if non cvt you would need auto transmission D oil , i bought 5 quarts but i only drained 4 quarts , make sure you shop around becuz dealers set their own prices , i got mine for $7+ compared to another dealer $16+ and gave wrong oil even after i had them type my vin # when i return to them i will get charge for restocking fee
