changing timming

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

has anyone done any timming change yet, looks like if I want to gain more power, timming is what I will need to do. I have not done it yet. I want any advice of how to do it, please let me know .

the gains aren't going to be spectacular. I think you should study what timing is and how it'll benefit you depending on your modifications, plug gap, fuel, etc..

Gaining power isn't as simple as advancing the timing. You can lose power that way too.

my car has a slow response, is this cause by the boost control or someting else. I have a standard boost control. My timming seems to be loose when the engine is cold but after running the engine for awhile the belt feels tight. Is this normal for rb engine?.

First of all, timing is electronically controlled, it cannot be 'loose.'

BUT, there are mechanical factors that may lead to timing change. As you've said, your belt feels loose? Then check the tension and alignment, make sure it has not skipped.

Once you've done that, then check and set your timing according to the FSM.

btw, your belt feels differently in different locations.. so you just need to check it. That's the only sure fire way.

if you ask how to do this changes, i suggest you t learn its purpose and about your motor. if you dont know what ure doing..you can easily fry your motor.
