Does anyone know where I can find instructions on changing my water pump on my ka24de? I could probably figure out how to do it, but I always like reading about how to do something before diving into something I haven't done yet. Thanks

It's pretty much as simple as relieving the belt tension, unbolt the old one, put the new one in, refill the radiator and keep putting coolant in till it runs out of the air bleeder screw and radiator cap.

Ok, just pulled out the chiltons service manual i bought lol, i don't know why i don't remember to look there. The only question i have is should i use the gasket that the water pump comes with, or shoudl i use the liquid gasket that the manual says, I have both, and i know the pump is put on there originally with the liquid stuff.

Btw, if anyone would like to know, Advance Auto Parts has a water pump in stock at their stores for About $29-$30 with a lifetime replacement warranty. Great deal :-)

1. take off mech fan if you haven't already done so2. take off intake piping3. take off mech fan shroud.4. losen the water pump belt by adjusting the powersteering pully.5. take off the waterpump pulley6. take off bolts that bolt the water pump into the block.7. use a rubber mallet to kock off the water pump.8. place gasket on new waterpump and bolt back into block.9. do everything backwords.10. when filling, make sure motor is on. (leave cap off)11. when it looks full, rev motor to about 3k rpm12. when motor warms up, thermostat opens and let air pockets out. 13. move back as coolant will fly out of cap coz of air bubbles.14. Motor will warm up to the "H" mark or higher but will drop pretty quickly.15. When no more bubbles come out, top off radiator and over flow bottle.16. Take car for test drive. Done.

Hope that helps.

I used the gasket that came with it. While you're in there you might as well change the thermostat too. The FSM says to use liquid gasket, but I made one for the t-stat out of a sheet of gasket material. It's been 4-5 months and no problems.
