i just received my three new belts from joe. first time changing belts on any car!!! is there a device to measure the correct tension of the belts, or is it just feel??? can something be rented from an auto parts store??? any advice on changing them??? i get a squeal with WOT around 6500K rpm's to 7k then stops with downshift. assuming it's the belts (if not, the pulleys). not really sure of the correct procedure?jeff

There is a device to measure tension, but you would have to do some ratio math to match the specs in the manual, since they give a different force/deflection measurement than what the tool gives.

Hmmm... what exactly happens when you hit 7K at wide open throttle and THEN DOWNSHIFT?!?!?!?

Belts seem to be the least of your worry...

(I'm guessing you meant upshift...)

Follow the instructions in the service manual- a simple fish scale and a ruler will suffice for a belt tension gauge- do it 10-20 times and you get pretty good at estimating the force.
