Im just curious if the fuel filter can be easily changed or not. Im not sure if its in the gas tank or outside of it. I have 113000kms and there is a slight hesitation on the highway and im wondering if maybe the fuel filter is dirty.

It's a maintenance free item, so no need to change it. It's in the fuel tank, BTW.

Seriously? I know fuel pumps have a filter sock, but didn't know new cars are now having maintenance free fuel filters. I'm going to have to pop open my hood tomorrow to look for a fuel filter to confirm.

The filter is part of the fuel pump. Don't know if you can change it by itself. Fuel pump is inside the fuel tank, accessed by removing back seat, pulling pump out from top of tank.

Sweet, so okay I was too busy partying instead of looking, but good stuff. One less thing for me to replace.

I have to challenge this a bit. I have a 2009 Nissan Versa base four-door. 1.6L engine.

I just pulled out my mass air flow filter for cleaning and attached to the fuel line is a cylindrical object that looks a lot like a fuel filter. You can see this part without taking it off your mass air flow filter. It's right behind the intake manifold dead center from the firewall. I'm pretty sure this is a filter. Maybe a secondary filter.

Interesting. Post a pic Dan! :) I notice I can't seem to shop for such a filter. Let's see if we can identify that part as anything else...

No filter, I went looking around at parts suppliers, they list no part there..........unavailable.

Could be looking at something like a pulse damper, some cars use them there.

Run a can of BG44k through it every 6 months.
