I believe to remove it you would need that "special tool" which just looks like a hex driver. You also will probably need a steering wheel puller. Other than that you just need to be extremely careful with the air bag spiral cable. I would probably recommend trying to find a steering wheel with the cruise control and audio controls already built in, that way you don't have to go through the extra work of transferring your old ones to the new steering wheel.
