Can I change the solenoid without opening up the starter?

You have to take the starter off the care unless you are a contortionist, but you don't open up the starter.

Thanks. It turned out my whole starter was bad. So I got a rebuilt one but I'm wondering if it is worth the extra money $80 to get a "Standard" Solenoid for it. Would the "Standard" one be much better than what is used on rebuilt starters? More reliable? Longer Lasting?

Nope, I'd just get one from autozone or wherever. comes with a gaurantee and all if it fails.
