Ive had this non tip-tronic shift assembly sitting around after I did my tip tronic assembly swap. Today on facebook I got asked If i knew how to change the shift knob. Since there arent any DIY's on how to do it and since its sunday I decided to Get into it

The only tool youll need is a Flat head screw driver. Preferably with a magnetized tip. (youll see why later)

Disconnect your battery (just in case)
Emergency brake on to prevent your car from rolling

Dis-engage the shift lock and put the assembly in neutral (N)

Put the flat head into either side and pry until you hear a pop, It pops in two places so be careful.

Repeat on the other side

Now youll need to put the flat head in between the chrome and the black and pry the chrome down

Now you just have to pop that clip out. (this is where the magnetized tip comes in handly)

The it slides straight off
