Changing shift cover

First let me say that my dad is the car expert not me.

Not sure if "shift" cover is the correct name for it but the faux silver base of the automatic shift column.

The faux silver plastic base is driving me crazy and the reflection off the window is annoying. Is there a replacement for this part? Is it hard to install? And what is the proper name for that piece.

I haven't heard of any replacement for it yet. I do know that many cars have shift boots available for automatics but I don't know if they are universal or not (never looked into it).

I don't know what the piece is actually called either...

I have never noticed a glare from it though, didn't think it was that reflective ???

i was looking into it and the shift boot for the manual and automatics are interchangable... so all you would have to do is order the boot and surround for the manual.

a manual that doesnt shift ? lol ya i know that its kind of rice but i dont want the piece to scratch.... so i am thinking about buying the trim piece for the 6mt. but if someone wants to prove my theory they can switch the cvt and 6mt trim pieces at their next meet...

If it's the reflection that's bothering you, why don't you just paint it? A gloss black would look good...
