How do u change piston and rings with engine in the bay, and without head removal?

Drop the pan and push the rods?

Thanks

well... first of all if you're asking this question, in this manner, then you are DEFINETLY not ready to be pulling engine internals... but I'll humor you anyways.

You cant push the piston out if there is a head still on the block... You could remove the crank though, and pull everything out from the bottom... This is really not something you want to be doing- ESPECIALLY with the engine still on the car.

Whats so hard about pulling the head?

lol well... more or less... to remove the crank you need to first take off the transmission, then clutch, flywheel, all that crap, and dont forget about your crank pulley on the other side, etc, etc, etc.... theres a ton of crap that is in the way that it really just gets to the point where it cant be done, like WD says.

my point still stands though- if you're even asking this question, you're already making a mistake.

Also, how on earth do you plan on compressing the rings to put it in from the bottom? It MIGHT be possible but it'd be an incredible pain in the ***.

Hmmm, it looks like its time for the grammar/spelling nazi!

People, stop making fools of yourselves; I was just wondering, thus I asked. Mere moments ago, I was reading a post concerning this and my curiosity led me to start a new thread regarding the subject at hand.

This forum appears to flame people more than any other.

This thread isn't even in the right forum...this is for turbo KA24's. Not basic motor rebuilds. So if you want to repost your question in the proper forum, go ahead, but I don't think its worth the time on your part. I'm sorry you felt like you were being flamed upon, but your question was pretty far out there.

As a suggestion, I'd read up on basic motor rebuilding.

Brian
