hey guys, long time no chat. been way too busy with real life stuff to work on the automobile. now its cooled off outside and i was setting up to do some minor repairs and a tune up, and just my luck, the starter finally bit it.

for a few months i could whack it back into commission when it wouldnt start, and now its finally bit it.

in the chiltons manual it says i need to drop the transmission a few inches. i was searching through the old posts and some people said thats not necessary, that i could use wrench extensions. no problem, i have several... but when i was looking under the car i just couldnt find that second bolt.

does anyone have a picture or maybe some more detailed instructions on getting that second bolt out? when i looked through the old posts they never really gave any details. ive heard this is a basic repair. if push comes to shove i have a hydraulic jack and i can move the transmission, i would just rather not.

also the guide says to remove the starter mounting bracket first, and i see no bracket. maybe im missing it, or maybe it isnt there?

thanks in advance guys

you don't need to drop the transmission

jack the car up, get under it and find the two bolts

i was able to get one bolt from underneath, the other i got from the top with a breaker bar, but i had to disconnect a coolant hose or two to get at it
