Ok so I bought 6 new style injectors (JECs) and the adapter kit. I know there's a write up on how to pull the plenum and changing injectors is pretty striaght forward...take out old and pop in the adapters with O-rings and put the injectors in. As for the connectors, is there a special way to splice the 2 wires? is one positive and one negative? solder with shrink wrap or use weather proof solderless connectors? Is there a write up on how to do this? Thanks again guys for the help! :bigthumb:

OK I found this [rl=http://twinturbo.net/ttnettech/plenum/plenum.aspx]article[/url] that shows how to do the injector change out but it doesn't address the connectors... :frown:

The connectors should have a larger wire on one side, and a smaller one on the other IIRC. Match em up.

What he said... just solder and heatshrink them

Ok...so just match up the wires and solder them and heat shrink them. How long do you think it would take to do this and do the injectors pop right out or does it take force...or since the fuel line will be de-pressurized, is it easier to remove the fuel rail off and secure it on a vice and to softly tap the injectors out with a deep well socket and hammer?

It really depends how fast you can do a quality solder job.. maybe 1-2 hours start to finish? (for the connectors I mean)

The injectors usually require a little bit of force to get out, usually a twisting/pulling motion. You can use pliers or vice grips to get them out if you don't care about messing them up (since you aren't reusing them).

And to press em in, use a little bit of lube (not a lot) so you're less likely to puncture an O ring. I'd honestly just do the removal on the car though.

You planning on keeping this thing, man?

Yeah, I'm planning on keeping it.

I started to so the injectors. the plenum pull was a PITA to take off since I'm sure it has never been off since it was installed. A lot of the hoses and vaccum lines didn't want to come off...but I got them off. While it was off I cleanined it up and most likely painting it since I have it off. The injector removal process wasn't to bad nor the splicing of the wires. It was just tedious. I did run into a little bit of trouble. The new style injectors have a slight different angle than the new ones. The new injector connector stub points a little more upward than the old style. Thus on the #1 injector, I can't get the connector on because part of the intake manifold is right on top of it. Had I known this, I would have just simply grinded part of it off. I don't want to ruin the new injector so the plenum is coming off again

Definitely need to grind the #1 bridge when converting to new style injectors. Not a ton, but a good amount.

Electrical connections don't matter, there's no positive or negative, it's just a pulse.

I'd suggest doing some bypasses and eliminations while you have the plenum off to make removal easier in the future.

-water line bypas
-PRVR delete
-AIV delete
-Boost solenoid delete (if TT and you have a boost controller)

(sorry I'm late to this party :()

Well I tried using a high speed carbide to grind off a little part of that bridge but the carbide bit kept clogging up cause the aluminum is too soft. What do you guys use to grind off the bridge and do you have a picture of how its supposed to look like when its done...

Also, is there anything running through that bridge like an airway of some sort or is it just a solid piece of aluminum that secures the throttle linkage?

Just a solid piece of AL to hold the throttle linkage.

I use the spiral cutting bit of my Dremel, followed by a sanding drum. I also would tape off the oil filler and have a shop vac running near by if doing it on the car.
