I tried to do the usual research before posting this topic... but, I couldn't find what I was looking for. So, forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere.

While Wes was going over my car recently, he found a bad injector. I believe #3 is the only one that showed a bad OHM rating.

So, I am thinking about starting the project of replacing it. Has anyone done a step-by-step walk through of this job? Any pictures? I am truly a beginner, so the more help I can get the better. If this is a job I should not try to tackle on my own... just let me know.

Also, was looking at parts on everythinginfiniti.com. They show several different colors for injectors on the 90-94/6 Q45's. Which is the right one? Do I need to match it against what is currently in the vehicle? Do I need to remove the bad one in order to determine the color?

Also, I am assuming that testing OHM loads is how to check whether the injectors have gone kaput electronically. But, an injector may become physically clogged or even fail physically without showing a bad OHM rating correct? So, how do I test my other injectors? Will I need to remove them all?

Thanks for the help.

Search on "power balance" test here and in the Infiniti Mechanic Forum.

I will... but, what is "power balance"?

I have tried doing some reading from the tech help section pertaining to this on q45.org, but I haven't come across that term yet.

I always call and talk with Joe and that way you know you'll get what you need. 888-216-5328 is the number.

Yes injectors will clog without ohming out bad. Injectors are injectors and what I mean by that is that there is no perfect way to check them without actually taking them out or hooking up a consult and praying that a code will be thrown. You can get to a couple of the injectors without removing the plenum, but the others require the plenum to come off. And if you do take the plenum off you might as well do other work as well have two or three cans of cleaner and clean, clean, clean. Check the under plenum hoses etc.....

I was thinking that I would order the under Plenum kit from Joe, since I would probably have to remove the Plenum anyway.

I will have to wait until I can line up some back up transportation before I start that project!

Thanks for the help, again.

The heat generated by our early Q's also attacks the Wiring harnesses as well. The harness to my coil packs and plugs was so brittle that it had to be replaced. Just something else to check........as if you need more

Ohhh but the reward..........
