I've got an S13 SR in an S14 and I'm trying to change the oil. I've got a Fram oil filter for a '94 Sentra w/ SR20DE motor. Problem is we can't find the damn oil filter. We've found something that looks like an oil filter, but it's much bigger than the fram unit. Any help/pics? Thanks

Look underneath the intake manifold on the passenger side. Its next to the alternator. You can see it if you look from the top of the engine bay, but it is easier to see from under the car. I can supply pics if you need them.

Some people like to use larger filters. I tend to think the SER filters are way way too small. The filter I used is 3-4 times larger which provides much better flow, much better filtration, and much better dirt capacity. For S13's SR's you can get much larger oil filters. I used to use VW oil filters but forgot what number it actually is.

I just started using the Power Enterprise filter. It is really small but it seems to do the job.

Ok, my first post was a joke (well not really, but we found it right after I posted). Now our problem is we can't get the filter off. It's on there extremely tight. We've got circle wrench's (actually not sure what this is called exactly, it's a circlular piece of metal that clamps on to something to turn it) but there's absolutely no room to turn the damn thing. We can't even get it on from over the car and under the car we can get it on but it has no room to turn. Anyone have any luck getting an oil filter off that's on extremely tight. (BTW, we've tried using a jar grip and a belt, and both wouldn't turn the thing).

Stab a screwdriver through it and use it to turn the filter. When you put the new one on make sure you don't wrench on it. It should only be a little more than hand tight to where it won't come off.

one note:i've seen that some SRs use the same filter as the VQ. Mine is one of those. The SE-R filter won't even screw on to the threads.

I have fallen in love with the K&N gold filters. They have a 1" nut on the end that makes taking them off a whole lot easier.

Autozone carries a tool that has 3 fingers pointing out that grips to the filter when you turn it counter clock wise, you attach a 3/8's rachet to it. There would be plenty of room with that tool, it's what I use quite often. Although I've used a screw driver as mentioned above to stab through the filter. If it's a Mobil one filter or K&N, you're out of luck on the screw driver trick. Well good luck.

This oil filter clamps down harder if the filter don't turn. Best thing since apple pie
