Sup Fellas~! I just noticed that I have a lot less oil when I drain it out during oil changes. I have a 93 "SE" supposedly (no power windows/mirrors or alloys, but carfax.com says its an SE....) with 114000 miles on it. I know that filling it up takes about 4 quarts, but when I drained out the old oil into the used cans, it only filled up 3 cans. Where'd the other quart go??? Is this natural? Should I be worried about a worn seal/gasket????

The oil filter takes some of that quart and some of it probably leaked out or burned up in the motor between changes. Nothing to worry about.

also if you were to say to pour 4 qts of oil in, then let it drain out immediatly you will not get a whole absolute 4 qts out. Now by no means am i saying a whole qt will stay in your engine, just saying that will add to not all 4qts coming out. Small amount of oil always are left behind when draining from slug build up, engine flush is agood idea about maybe every 15k-20k miles.

well there is the cheap kind of engine flush that come in a can that you pour into the engine before an oil change. Let is run ffor a few minuets then drain it. thta can be bought at a local auto parts store, i dont not recommend that! A real engine flush can be done at many auto shops and even jiffy lubes (which i work at, lol) They hook it upto a machine, which has a tube to your oil filter conection and one tub into your oil pan plug and your system is purged using air pressure. You really can see all the gunk and exsess get drain out.

How much would an engine flush service like that cost? I never gave much thought to Jiffy Lube, just because the name of that place kinda makes me think it's a peanut butter factory. There's one Jiffy Lube that's near my work place and maybe if the price is right..
