If your fuel pressure is good and you have no corrosion on the pump terminals you should not need to replace the pump.

You may want to make sure that the fuel pump is sitting flush in the hole and replace the gasket around the pump on top of the tank. It is also common to strip the tank bolt holes. Look at all six and if you have small metal shavings in there then you will either need to repair it or replace the tank. Leaving even one of those bolts loose may(almost certainly) cause an EVAP code to set and gas to evaporate from the tank.

u shouldnt need to change the pump unless its bad! ? i changed my filter on my 00'. getting the housing off was like a puzzle! my filter was dirty / oily / blackend and there was dirty/grime/metal in the housing - the tank was clear though from what i could see.
