Okay so I am not exactly mechanically inclined. I am not completely ignorant either. I usually have a general knowledge when it comes to cars, but not hands on experience. Last night I changed out my spark plugs, wires and cap and found that the fan behind my radiator is loose. I have a 1990 hardbody V6.

Now my question is. . . . Is there anything that I should be aware of? any tips or trick? can I mess anything up?

It seems pretty straight forward. I bought a haynes book and found the bolts. I just thought that I would check here and see if anyone had any thing that I should be aware of before I started.

I'd rather learn from the mistakes of others (and make all new ones ) if I can.

Thanks!

It's 4 small bolts to unbolt the fan clutch from the front pulley. Piece of cake. The fan will wiggle out between the motor and the fanshroud without you having to remove anything else.

Thanks,

that's pretty much what I thought by looking at it until one of my friends (jeep cherokee owner) said that it was more involved than that (mentioned an alternator belt having to come off and then be re-adjusted . . . and perhaps on his that is the case). I didn't see anything that looked difficult, but thought that I'd jump on and see if there was anything to be aware of.

off to the parts store after work . . . .

HA . . . okay so nothing really to it, except two stripped out stud screws from the water pump . . . a trip to the auto parts store to get those and then when I got back (and since I had to changed the stud coming from the water pump, I had to take the alternator belt off anytways it turns out) and tried to tighten the alternator belt back . . . broke that bolt!!!The head just popped off!

Good thing I have a good sense of humor these days.

thanks though. you were right.Seriously it should have been an easy job, but what is these days?
