Can someone give me instructions on where the ECM is located and perhaps some pictures and instructions on how to change it? Thanks in advance.

The 01 Maxima is equipped with NATS (Nissan Anti Theft System) which includes the NATS key(s), NATS Immu (Immobilizer Unit in the Ignition Cylinder. The NATS key has a unique ID stored in the IMMU and ECM. Replacing the ECM will cause starting problem since the NATS key cannot be recognized by the replacement ECM. You have to take the car to the dealership after ECM replacement so all the keys can be reprogrammed with the ECM and IMMU.

Please refer to the attached link for info about ECM location, etc.

I see that you have to remove the lower interior panel for access and it looks fairly easy.

My next question is has anyone had their ECU repaired (I see a couple of places on Ebay) or it would it be better to buy a reman one from a vendor?

Also, thanks for the previous post, that was q quick turn around of info.
