hit a deer a while back  and was looking around on ebay for parts, i needed a new turn signal, and in my haste, i accidentally bought sidemarkers :pface . the thing is that they are clear but the bulb is painted amber, it looks pretty goofy with a white bulb and a orange thing in the middle. I saw somthing where people painted their lightbulbs silver so it didnt show up in the lens, but when the bulb was on it still gave out the correct colored light? anyone know what im talking about or how to do this? i dont want to be ricey and buy clear bulbs :p

woah i never looked at all the smileys..cool! :)

I think you have already passed the ricey hump my friend. What you are probably thinking about is painting the head of the bulb silver, so the light emitted by the filiment is reflected back twords the socket/reflecter portion of the sidemarker. That way it would still flash amber but you would see a silver bulb.Woot! stick the bulb in cardboard about half way and paint, I doubt the heat would be enought to cause problems with the paint. Seems like more trouble than it's worth though. Why not go with clear bulbs? The silver will be pretty obvious.

you can get those silver top bulbs at your local auto store... just go down there and look at the different bulbs they have...
