Well guys I know I've beat this horse to death but just a few more questions.

I finally gave up on the dead lifter and bought alll new ones. Well I've got these new ones coming the problem. Maybe I could've gotten away with one to replace the bad. But i had the oportunity to replace all of them so I did. $280.80 later they'll be here early next week.

So I want a bigger cam. I have a 147k truck cam and 225k 240 cam. The truck is 232dur .382 lift. The 240 is 240dur .409" lift I believe.

Should I run the new lifters with the newer cam? Or just replace the bad lifter and use the truck cam?Or replace the bad lifter and use the 240 cam?Do you think I should have purchased all new?

I wanted to go to solid lifters(realnissan) but the three week wait period would have be more than I could wait.

I know that the cam and lifters wear together so I don't want to ruin a new set of lifters . Someone help me before I go nuts.

If you want more low end torque use the truck cam, 240 cam will work fine your engine will just develop hp a bit differently.

If you know which lifter is bad just replace that one and send the rest back if you can.

cams wear very little if at all, inspect the lobes you should be able to tell if there is wear. run your good set of lifters on either cam it doesnt matter.

just make 100% sure the oil passage to the rocker assembly is not plugged, and assemble your rocker shafts properly.

Thats kinda what I was thinking devious. Thanks for the advice.

Of course I'm trading a little lowend for a little topend. The two cams are'nt too different.

Do you think the 240 cam will make better power 2 to 3k range. I'm really not worried about off idle power. I'm looking for gains up over 2000rpms.

I was thinking that later on I could swap to the pdm 406 cam or the r6 nissan cam. I really don't think my truck will respond well to the r4. Of course if I could run the r4 if I could get respectable mileage . But for now I can only do one thing at a time. I spent $1700 on the rebuild, clutch, flywheel, etc to drop a lifter after a 1000 miles.

when it comes to cams I'ma dummy. You see my problem is this. They're are to vehicles that I want to be faster than. My brothers altima to 60mph. And a 4.3 s10. I'm begining to think its going to take a little more than compression and cam. I ran a 4.3 at 900 miles 3rd gear from 60mph too4800rpms. I got ate. I had some junk in the back and an extra person but that wouldn't have made up the difference. With the stock cam power peaks at 4800rpms and falls off after that.

How do you like that pdm 404 cam.00rpms. Does it have a nice lopey idle. What did it do to the gas mileage. You see I drive a lot of miles in this thing and if I turn it into a gas hog I might as well sell it.

ok well if thats the case throw in the 240 cam for now. I had a truck cam in my coupe a while back, power really dropped off much sooner than the stock 240 cam. Thats the only real comparison ive got.

If you get a cam go with a pdm, or one of mine when i get a batch done. Regrinds are much cheaper and achieve the same goal (unless your going to super high lift).

i have a head with c404.h and had it on my 2.5 for a while. I love this cam when it comes to mileage, drivability, idle, and it gives good gains from 2500rpm on. I did not notice any gas mileage difference, the idle is as smooth as stock, great for daily driver. this is the best for the money as far as ka24e cams go, for now anyway.

ahh finally a straight answer. That one's been a long time coming.

So your saying that the mileage decrease if any was only slight.Thats great.

You have the 404 cam thats a step in lift and duration from the 406. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah the truck cam is great for dragging a boat up the ramp. But really poops out after 60mph.

So how much do you want for that 404:D

yeah, mileage factor is minor. The pdm cams specs are on their site, yeah its a step above their 406. Buy from pdm, prices are cheap, and service is great. I wouldnt want to get rid of mine for anyless than 200 i like it so much.

I was only kidding. I have a core to send off now so I'll prolly do that pretty soon. Ha, 8 months from now maybe. After the cam I'll prolly do a header. Which one are you running. What kind of differences did it make?

try colt cams. that guy knows a **** ton about nissan and his re-grind prices are insane! like below $100 me thinks..... I beleive he specializes in the SOHC KA, last I talked to him he had received a shipment of 100 cam blanks for the KAE engine.
