I read the thread below regarding the s/t bushings but it didn't state clearly how to change the bushings w/o using a press.A local speed shop will change my struts /shocks and springs for $60-$100 depending on how long it takes. He doesn't have a press , as shocking as it seems.A press is only $100 for a "10 ton" down the street. I figure i might as well change the bushing while its apart. His machine shop that he uses to port and polish is closed on the weekends. Now....i can get them out by heating them with a torch. Will they go back in by sticking the new bushings in the freezer for 3 hours??

probly not the urethane bushings... itll probly take more than that to get them in, u should install your springs and struts yourself, just go to cummins and pick up a hand spring compressor, its a snap to install those, plus the satisfaction of doing it yourself, the compressor only costs $20-25...

...as for the bushings, u can do it without a press, but its gonna be hard, press is the easiest way....

you can easily put them back in with a vise. Getting them out is a *****, though, because the stock ones have a metal ring around them that gets rusty and fuses with the rod. Just find somewhere that has a press.

the easiest way to get them out is to burn them with a torch. then carefully cut out that inner sleeve. a press makes quick work off getting them in. but a big enough vise may work as well.

I burned out the rubber, then I took a sawz-all and cut the inner ring. They I took my airhammer and hammered out the ring. Then use a vise to push the new bushing into the rod. Took awhile, but I couldn't get a local shop to press out the bushing, damn tards

THe local 300z club was saying to use a torch on the rubber and use a hack saw on the outer ring. If someone in kc (hint hint) wants to help. D*** skippy. Geez, i was trying to get some help last summer at the 240 meets. No idea what the problem was. And don't even get me started with Holly and johnie..... spent 2 weekends getting their car done and zip on mine.

I don't want to diss them too much. Lewis, their hired mechanic far from professional. I was just standing around part of one day 'cause they were far from being orginized. I wouldn't mind changing them out come spring time. I gotta put several bags of sand in car to get around. But, the guy might double his rates come spring. So, what was the deal last summer and whose car was the guy with the '95 300zx working on?
