Front or back? You don't mean the reflector?

It is on the front of the car and I suppose it would be the reflector light. Can you help me out? Thanks Kimber

I'm thinking you mean the lights that are outside of the main headlight assemblies at the front.I changed them out awhile ago, these are my directions.

(1.) pop the hood(2.) look on either side of the headlights, their should be single screw.(3.) unscrew the screw all the way till its loose ( you may need W40 or liquid wrench to facilitate that)(4.) don't pull the screw out(5.) the light assembly lens flips out part way (I carefully used a needle nose plier to flip it open), kind of like a secret compartment would (it's illustrated in the J30 manual). Open it up very gently (I don't remember, if the lens flips out anchored to the front or back of the light assembly).(6.) when the light lens is open, the bulb simply pulls out.

THANK YOU SO MUCH driverdriver! Would you happen to know the most COMMON reason my check engine light keeps coming on. By the way, we bought this car used and the manual was not with unfortunately. I am always at a loss when I need to check on something. I do appreciate your help

I haven't had the check engine light come on my J so far, however I have had it come on in other past vehicles I have owned. The most common occurrence where O2 Sensor or insufficient coolant in the coolant reservoir (this could be a symptom of more severe problems) and once in my old Honda because their was insufficient oil in crankcase after I had changed the oil. Best bet is to first check your fluids, if they need to be topped up than top them up, restart car or drive the car for a bit (if its low oil) shut it down and restart it again and see if the light goes off. If the light doesn't go off then I would recommend taking it to a trusted garage and have them scan the J's computer for trouble codes.

Oh... I forgot one other time I had the check engine light came on was when I use to own a Porsche. The air filter was severly clogged. Putting in a replacement solved my problem.

It would be worth your while to go to an Infiniti dealer and have them run the consult. Since the car is used and you have neither the owner's manual or the boxed minny service manual in the trunk (you checked, right?), there could be many things happening. These manuals can be found on Ebay frm time to time. The service manual is the bible for the J30.

Timing belt service due at 105k miles. Transmission filter and fluid change ASAP.

Thanks to both of you, I will try driverdrivers ideas first since the nearest Infiniti mechanic is 2 hours away. We have changed the timing belt, brakes, all filters and fluids already. We bought the car on eBay but I never thought to look for a manual there. I will do that. And once again, I do appreciate ya'll taking the time to help me out. Kimber

Did you do the transmission filter? Even dealers say it can't be changed. Make sure you change it. It can and must be done.

The service light could also be from a fuel injector, crank angle sensor, MAF sensor, ERG valve, etc. There are many things that can trigger that light.

It's an OBDI system. I believe it is located near the kick panel on the driver's side. Do you have a Nissan consult computer?

You can also read codes directly off the ECU.
