I just replaced the rear pads with Akebono ACT1347 pads. I used the brake grease that came with the pads but I get bad squeaking from the brakes. Like the kind of squeaking you can hear echoing off of all of houses in your neighborhood. This is the first time I have replaced pads on a fixed caliper (or non-floating, whatever the term is) so I probably missed greasing something. I put grease on both sides of the supplied shims and a little on the spring-clip that holds the pads down. What did I miss?

full disclosure: I did nothing to the rotors, they are in pretty good condition. I've replaced brakes in the past without changing/turning the rotors with no problems. I also may not have bedded the pads adequately. I can't imagine either of those would cause that much racket.

Any suggestions?

Did you read and follow the steps in the FSM?

Ah yes the manual. I've done everything right but It says use copper grease, is that the trick? I can't find that stuff anywhere. Look's like I need to go online.

When I needed 4 wheel brakes on my previous 06 G35 at 86k miles I had the work done at the dealer. They also turned the rotors.
The work was done perfectly and cost me $530.00 back in 2009. The vehicle still had those brake pads and rotors when I traded it in at 171796 miles. I had the use of a loaner from the dealer.
Some things are better left to someone who does that job every day. Also your life depends on those brakes.

Good luck

Weird...I've replaced pads many times and used the supplied grease without noise. Are you sure the top shims are installed properly?
