The last time I had my car in for maintenance, the local dealer advised me that the power steering and brake fluids were dirty and should be flushed. Is this something I need to get taken care of in short order?

due to moisture in brake lines, you should flush system every few years with fresh brake fluid. bleeding brake lines would work, but it does not remove fluid from abs system. you need a special tool to do this. I would bleed all 4 wheels, take car for test drive, while driving apply brakes with enough force to activate abs system, this forces fluid from abs accumulator into your regular brake lines. take car home and bleed all 4 wheels again. time consuming, but you'll save a lot money.

as for power steering fluid, changing every 3 yo 5 years is sufficient. hand held evacuator would work. cheap turkey baster might also work
