changing an alternator 1990 q45

how do you change the alternator on a 1990 q45, I've removed the radiator, fan, etc, and loosened the alt and a/c bolts, but can't see how to get the stupid thing off the engine, would dynamite help?

IIRC, it sits in a slot. You have to slide it our forward once everything's disconnected.

thanks, how do I access the wiring on the back of it, since I can't see it?

You will pull the alternator out and unplug it that way......

The alternator front and rear flanges sandwich the mounting bracket. It is a FLUSH interface, with a press-fit bushing, to ensure the alternator maintains perfect alignment without stressing it. What this means is that you have to unbolt the alternator and then rotate it in place to clear the mounting bracket before you can remove the alt. Again it's a snug fit, so expect some fight.
