I've looked for stickys to no avail, but i'm wondering if there's an easy way to change the 12V socket to always being on? My last car had one that stayed powered even with the ignition off. Anyone have any expierience with this? I use my laptop in the car a lot, and being able to charge through the 12V without the car being on would be awesome.

Someone will probably scream at me and say "never do that" for suggesting this but...

running a new set of wires from the battery terminals... wiring up an in-line fuse of the correct amperage... then cut out the factory wiring and splice in the direct wiring from the battery.

(waiting for Jemdawg to beat me up, since Clipsed is on vacation...)

BLAH!!!!

Why not just leave it the way it is, and pick up an extra socket, place it somewhere like under the steering column, and add-a-fuse tap a constant source.
