I changed the oil and spark plugs. All spark plugs were correctly gapped and everything. I take it out for a test spin afterwards, and it drives fine for about 3 minutes. I then punch it, shift to second, no problem. Shift to third and it grinds, which isnt uncommon due to the 3rd gear is starting to go ou. I pull make and then put into 3rd gear, and it dogs down, i push on gas it dogs down. All the way down to where it dies. I then turn on the car, and it revs up and down over and over again until it dies.

What could this be? i know the spark plugs are on good, maf sensor is good. Just not sure.

The faster the reply would be great considering it's sitting on the side of a road, in the area that i definately dont want it to be sitting.

Sounds like MAF sensor somehow got dirty. Buy a can of electrical connector cleaner from auto parts store. I did this on my 97 Maxima just the other day and it runs like a new car. By the way, my maxima was idling eratic just like you describe and when I pushed on the gas, it would sometimes die. Would be a cheap fix if it works.
