I pray that the gunk stuff isnt that stuff that says "run for 5mins at idle" and drain.. It could be bad news for your Q, esp if it hasnt had perfect maintennace before....

Straight 30 is MUCH too thick for indiana winters..... Even my dino 10w im running right now is too thick (switching to durablend this week), as im changing the oil for a while when it starts changing colors (golden to darker)....

no, hes using 0w-30. thats good.

also, i wouldnt recommend using the flush again. its for lower mileage cars with mild sludging.

". i had a conventional straight 30 in there"

I was implying that the straight 30 shouldnt have been in there and the 0w30 is good!!!

if you have not neglected your maintanence, you will be fine.

the issue is that in higher mileage motors, the "5 minute flush" might be too agressive, and dislodge large dirt particles. those particles might then clog the oil pickup screen.

if your motor was not excessively dirty, dont sweat it.

Thats true... However it has been proven that even high mileage Qs that have "good" records, it STILL harsh...

Fred could expound more.....

I still wouldnt use one.... Rather, I woudl go to a dealer and pay to have a GOOD SAFE flush done.. Im going to do that and switch to valvoline durabled......

It may cause zero damage.

The only danger is if it does what its supposed to in a heavily sludged engine.Broken off pieces of sludge can block oil pick-up screenw ith predicatble results.

If you oil didnt appear "chunky" coming out youn likeoly didnt have a problem and got some good cleaning to boot.

Fred....:)

I'm sure you haven't done any harm.

A flush was one of the first things I did when I bought my Q years back. You should change the oil again very soon since you may have residue of the flush breaking down your fresh oil. One more change asap should suffice.

Owners forget that without a mechanical flush or oil pan removal, about 1/2 quart stays in the sump.
