I have a 2001 nissan maxima, when I would drive the car, the idle would be very high, and remain high.. then sometimes it would cut off when my foot wasn't on the accelerator, at a red light or stop sign. We changed the idle control valve, put on a brand new one, but have tried to RESET THE ENGINE COMPUTER. We have tried 3 times but the computer won't reset. Pleeeeeaaasssse help, any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is a possibility your ECU could have been fried. The IACV stepper motor is driven by power transistors (amplifiers) inside the ECU. So if the stepper motor has shorted out when it failed, the transistors could have overheated and damaged the ECU.
