Hi all. Here's the skinny on the problems I have now. Finally (after 3+ yrs. ownership ) got around to switching out the plastic chain guides (1992, 118K). Pretty sure I did the operation correctly (zip tied chains up, etc.). While I was at it, I resealed valve covers, new p/s pump, A/C compressor, fuel filter, cleaned TB, AAC, Mass air, spark plugs and belts. I knew I had 1-2 bad fuel injectors and it still ran reasonably well but went ahead and replaced #1 inj. After ohming all, the #4 is toast (no ohm readings at all) all others fine. Now, the car will fire up and idle (shaking pretty badly too) for about 5-30 seconds and then dies kinda like it was starved for fuel. I cannot touch the throttle at all or it dies immediately. I get a code #21 (ign. signal circuit) and #34 (detonation sensor cir.) also. I've ohm'd the knock sensors and they are within spec (550). I've also tried to play a little with the timing without luck. The fuel pump "seems" to work normally . Sorry so long & I appreciate any help I could get!

Replace your fuel filter and measure your fuel pressure. Report back.

visually(with inspection mirror and light as required) check the seals under the plenum--easy to knock one out of place (big air leak) Also check crankcase ventilation hose on back of engine.

make sure that the fuel injectors arent leaking... Also check for vacuum leaks.. Hope the chains didnt skip while you had it apart.

Id double check the connectors on the valve covers.

Sometimes when rotating the engine by hand the cam will be positioned where it wants to roll over, and this could have happened to you. Start small first, but since you went internal it's a very real possibility one or both of the timing chains skipped on you. Assuming a chain skip the right bank is the more likely candidate if you put the engine to TDC on cylinder 1 before zip-tying the chains.
