My car feels so much faster to me after the diff was serviced at 30k.

I highly recommend this service! My dealership only charged $69! when combined with an oil change.

Couple PRIVATE PROPERTY videos from this morning

Can you hear the tires chirp on the 1-2 shift in this video?

Good start but a little bog in 1st

uneven pavement

I need to do this.

I've seen pumps that work for the oil so you can directly pump into the diff and DIY. I'm probably going to do mine here very soon.

If memory serves me correctly, you posted similar videos when you joined and you mentioned the tires chirping. I guess its been awhile and you forgot what it felt like haha.

Tires quit chirping when I upgraded the tires from 215/55/17 to 235/45/17.

little yellow light is "SLP" tires are breaking traction :-0

dealership did the service for $69, invoice says 4 lbs 80/90 w gear oil... don't know if it was syn or not getting changed every 30k it wouldn't matter although syn would provide less friction.

I changed my dif fluid at 20k. It was very bad considering the mileage driven. If I would have known I probably would have changed it a lot sooner.

I would change it now and again in 30k miles 50k is too long.

Anyplace should be able to get a diff fluid change right but the dealership only charges $69 so why not let them do it?

$69 isn't exactly spare change.

you completely missed the point.

$69 is the dealership cost. Who is going to do it cheaper? You might be able to do it yourself for $30? But what is your time worth?

Doing it yourself should only take about 15 min.

$11/qt around here for Royal Purple synthetic gear oil 80W-90 (you should buy 3 if you are going to do it yourself, even though it only uses about 2)

$8 for a pump that works with the oil so you can fill it up properly.

I believe the dealer replaces an $0.89 washer as well_________total $41.89 + time.

And that is with synthetic...

Just saying thanks for this topic. I probably would have never changed this fluid. This is my first rear wheel drive car. Got mine changed at the goodyear/gemini for $63.00. I have 66k on the dash and no telling if past owners have had this done before. Next is a transmission flush and power steering flush.

How much of a pain is the power steering flush to do your self? They were saying $90.00 to flush power steering and i think thats a tad expensive.

Just did my diff oil....changed it out with Royal Purple 75W-90

Can't believe the build-up on the drain plug! Definitely was a good time to change it out.

Total cost for me was under $30...and about 30-45 min.

Tampa you might want to have yours done at the dealership for the records. Didn't you just get a new transmission?? IMO a failing transmission could wear a diff.

Wow, the acceleration is really quick. I want to change mine out but am unsure of the brand to use.

royal purple or mobil one?

both have treated me well in the motor oil segment through the years.
