First off I wanna thank every one who responded to my previous post of VG30DE Stock to VG30DETT Conversion. The information I got from you guys was awesome. But after some careful consideration and a self reality check since I'll be selling the car mid to late 2011 a complete engine swap just isn't practical for me.

So the new question I'm posing for you guys is aside from adding a cold air intake and redoing the exhaust is there any way I can up the stock 205 HP to around 250 HP??? With the exhaust and cold air intake I might be pushing 220 HP max. Again I can't thank you guys enough for all the info and replies. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic. Since I won't be swapping out engines adding a little more get up is goal.

Unfortunatly the only "off the shelf" performance product for this cat was the Jim Wolf Technology Popcharger, which gives you a very modest bhp gain.

Keep in mind the OEM intake is true Cold air intake.
Any pop charger will be in-taking air from the engine compartment.
Sure the sound will be nice on WOT.

I think a ECU chip will give you more HP for the buck.
But the truth is the J isn't a race car.
Unless you throw ALOT of cash in mods.

I didn't know the stock air intake was cold air.

When I first joined the J30 forum, the JWT pop charger had a lot of happy customers.

paraphrasing what Yoda said the J is (and was) designed to be a touring car rather than a racecar. I got my modification jollies out of an old Civic Hatch a few years ago and an Acura more recently. Those cars have an almost infinite aftermarket straight bolt on performance options.

Get the 2 lb aluminum crankshaft pulley
Get your computer chipped.
Get rid of the 3 factory mufflers, I cut one open and was very very unhappy with what I saw.
We replaced everything with a X pipe and free flow Borla mufflers.
If you feel like fabbing something ,the black factory intake Y pipe seemed to be more for noise reduction then flow, we ditched it and made our own Y pipe.
If you need a little more, look into some headers, if they exist for a J

yah you got to do a lot of internal work to get the serious HP out of th NA VG motors. basic stuff would be full aluminum pulley kit, dual MAF setup, exhaust and ECU. im currently the guinea pig for one guy who is letting me test his chips out til he finds a good one to make for all J30s. his cost is much less than Jim Wolf and he specializes in the 300zx as well.

i have a friend with a 300zx that is making 261rwhp on pump gas. he has about $10k in work on the motor though. stroked, slightly higher compression, bigger pistons (90mm i believe) and a crazy tune. currently the highest HP NA in the US that isnt sprayed. he can hang with stock 300zxTT and actually beat them since he doesnt have boost lag.

not trying to be the debbie downer but to make serious power you will need to put money into the VG30DE. im currently at 194rwhp 170ftlbs with full pulley setup, intake filter, dual electric fans and 5spd swap. ECU should have me over 200whp once he gets it figured out.

here is a comparison of the auto transmission to the 5spd

Some nice stuff there Bud !!!
Looking for three gauges to mount in the space below my radio (Half din)
Oil Temp , Oil Pressure and transmission fluid Temp.
Looks like they carry High end gauges a tad out of my price range though.
:gapteeth:
Got your package yesterday.
Thanks again man.
Will be nice to have power steering back. Although my upper body strength has gone way up !!
LOL

I think I'll look into a another project car. I was recently looking into a Nissan 240zx. I picked up the J30 as an every day driver and a friend of mine who works at Infiniti here in Vegas made it sound like you could bolt on parts from the 300zx. The J30's awesome for every day back and forth to work but Im gonna go with your advice on picking up something else to toy around with. Thanks again for all the info.

For the motor you can bolt parts on and use 300zx stuff, it is just going to run you some money to make decent power. I was at 180whp 158ftlbs with pulley set and intake filter with the auto transmission. Just put down 201whp 177ftlbs today at Z1.

really under-drive pulleys help that much ?? what kind of intake filter you using?
