Woudln't the actual change come in late January 2009 when the next President is sworn in to Office?

It was funny to see "Newark" time on the website. My parents always said that when New York flushed the toilet it went to northern New Jersey. I guess that was confirmed when we would go to the Meadowlands for games.bud

I haven't missed even a municipal election since I started voting in the '70s. I rationalize that the reason I've picked very few winners is because I'm better informed than most.

Take it seriously; seriously research both sides of every initiative and all the candidates (yes, including third parties) before deciding where to place that vote.

Many initiatives I don't bother with. Whether we should have blue or green containers for glass recycling. Others I automatically vote against, like a new office for the Mayor. We did vote to increase our sales tax by 1/2 a percent a year and a half ago to fund new fire stations and more paramedics. So far, I haven't seen one new fire station. I don't trust initiatives.

Guys, elections are 3 months away. Don't get too confident and start to claim victory, you still have another quarter to go. You still have something like 16% who are undecided and those people can tip the scales easily one way or the other. Opinion polls should be taken with a grain of salt and the error should also be looked at, especially the ones that come out daily and the ones you see that are done by CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ESPN. Those polls are heavily skewed due to the audience and people who really care enough about the issue being polled that they go online to vote, so they are hardly scientific. In many of the polls I've seen so far, factoring in the errors, McCain could be ahead of Barack.

I'm perfectly happy watching the Obamallamas think they have it "in the bag"...

His whole "citizen of the world" thing really put off a lot of people, including some historically left-leaning pundits.

I doubt McCain could stand the stress of winning. He'd probably fall over dead sometime election night if he won. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Since when did winning become stressful? I've always found losing to be stressful.

So then what's your problem with McCain winning the Presidency? He is obviously going to die either election night or in the first 100 days of his administration. j/k

My biggest problem is that I don't want even one extra day of GW's policies, and I'm afraid that's all McCain knows. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, etc.

Ugh.

No need. Neither of them is running for public office.

...and "class" is subjective, just like attractiveness.

i disagree. i vote for people solely on how interesting their name is, and how hot their family is. mine is an informed decision. trust me. lots. of. research.

oh, and yes, its scientific. a white lab coat is involved. thats how we docs do.

I am as amused by the obama supporters delusion that he is anything more than one more self-serving politician almost as much as I am dreading what could happen if you misguided zealots get him in office.

Everyone seems to forget one thing around here. We only have two choices. We have Mr. Greater Evil and Mr. Lesser Evil. I back Mr. Lesser Evil.

Don't feel bad, I just turned 36 but my knees and back feel like 40. City miles, New Jersey city miles.

That is true, which is a shame. We just differ on who we think the lesser evil is.

If it weren't for Cook and Jackson counties in IL.. the state would go Republican. And, my vote would count. Gee... If I'm from IL.. I MUST be from the Chicago area.. and therefore I MUST be Democrat.. I hate stupid people who assume ****.

If Disney were a Party, Mickey would've been President long time ago. That's all I'm saying.

I wasn't clear enough. I was trying to make up a name for third party candidates.

If Disney were a third party, Mickey would be "Mr Even Lesser Evil Than Those Two But People Are Only Going To Vote For Their Party No Matter Who The Candidate Is" and still lose. Too many people, including many here, would still only vote Republican or Democrat.
