change dash indicator color

how do i change the color of the door ajar, low fuel, battery, etc. color? i know its not just a light because it has a plastic colored film in front of the light.

Depending on the year of your car, it could either be a colored LED, or the indicator "lens" itself could be colored. You could probably at least partially overpower the color of the lens with a colored LED or a gel (film).
