here's my situatio... I have a 90 240 with a rebuilt 60k mi motor. its a ka-e. and I had thought all along that it was the timing chain slapping the guide. so I asked my tech school teacher. ASE certified mech. And he said that its spark knock in the # 1 cylinder? I didnt see how it could be spark knocking until I touched the #1 & #2 injector plugs and all of a sudden there was a bad misfire and it almost died. I found out the the plugs had bare wire showing. not good. and finnally got them back in the same old position so they would work correctly again. The sound also is only there a light/ crusing throttle between 2.5k -3.5k rpm. he seems to think that the number 1 cylinder is leaning out badly due to the injector plug being shorted. I NEED HELP!!!!!!! any info or suggestion's are greatly appriciated. Thanks -Jake

timing chain rattle is there at idle if you pop your hood you can hear it from the very very front of the valve cover sounds like your teach might be right, if the wire is showing maby new spark wires would be a good places to start?

thanks for the reply... Thats what I always read was that chain rattle is when your at idle. at idle its nice and quiet. the ignition wires are good. I was saying that the injector connecters have bare wire showing. Well I guess im going to need to find a set of injector plugs with pigtails. thanks
