I see that several member got chain guide kits from the dealer for around $300.00 to $350.00. Why are they now $426.00 from the Scottsdale Infiniti dealer? Is there some special member price available? If so, what do I have to do in order to get it? Is there a secret code, member number, handshake, etc?

Here's the price I see: http://www.trademotion.com/par...34381

I'd like to save $100.00 if I can. Please help

Nissan had some serious price increases for parts to adjust for inflation in the spring 2006...................things really hadn't increased in the previous 6 years much if at all.

Exactly. More and more we hear about these ~20-25% price increases, it's just the big ticket items where it jumps out at you .

Just another unfortunate cost of putting this off , but still cheaper than replacing the motor.

Probably one of the slowest moving items in the inventory...........one day there will be no more and Nissan will surely not order more.........for an engine that hasn't been produced in 10-11 years.

Get your spare JDM takeouts and guide parts while you can.

Dennis -

Are 13070-60U03 and 13070-60U12 the "updated" versions?

Well, in Japan it was in production in 2001.

Those arent guides, those are the actual oil pressurized tensioners, and there wasnt any difference in those.

But how many 4.5 V8 were made for Japan and they never need to replace the updated guide.

Do you think they produced the engines every year or just made them in bulk and drew down as needed for the President............not like they didn't know who and how many they might need.

Why would they bother to ship guide parts to US was my point.

It is already a problem that so many old obsolete Q are still on the road in US..............they made them too well.

Selling new updated guides is bad as this makes the JDM engines bullet proof with new injectors [as needed].

After all we know that the new guides/old chains can last 211,000+ miles [mine] and 300K + on some 94Q.

If INFINITI wants to play with the big dogs, they better keep the pipeline of spare parts flowing,as you can get decades old mercedes parts to keep one on the road for virtually forever.........

Very few of the 90-93 Q on the road in US are in the condition that would make a manufacturer proud.

Not like guides are something that owners are lining up in droves for replacement.

The 5 dealers in ATL probably sell less than 5 sets per year and we probably buy 3 of the 5 sets or so they tell us.

Most JDM swaps are just swapped as they come in palletized no or little R&R much less new guides or even an inspection.

Indeed. MB is celebrating their heritage by opening a classic repair and refurbishing center where you can take your old car in for a full rehab. Expensive, yes, but priceless for people who love their cars. Even Cadillac celebrating the past with their new ads, showing Caddys from every decade over the hundred years.

BOO ON NISSAN.

Infiniti doesn't. Regime change. G50 designed by the old purely Japanese company that nearly went in to bankruptcy because of overweighting engineering over marketing. New French regime does not honor the past and wants only their design schema to survive, much like the alpha males attitude to previous dominant sired male cubs. Kill them off.

Nissan has a refurbishing program for vintage Z cars.

in the next 4-5-6-7 years its going to be key to pick up these old and even more worthless Q45s for spare parts when they become super-rare!

I have a pretty much complete used kit from my now scrapped Q if you are interested. All it is missing is 1 slack guide (one of the bolts was stripped during removal and I didn't have time to mess with it before the tow truck came). All you would need is 1 updated slack guide, 1 slack hex bolt, the paper gasket, and some sealant. I will cut you a deal because I cant use 'em.
