As was sung by the late, great David Bowie

My 09 M35 is now 14 years old. I've been looking at my options to replace it. Mercedes ... nah BMW ... meh Audi? ... never. I have been a fan of Infini0ti for many many years and many many cars but They make nothing new that interests me. The Q50 has come a long way since its beginning. The new ones have a great ride but I can't find one with even the basics like memory seats and electric steering wheel movement. And they still use two mismatched screens in the center stack?

That left me with as choice between the Genesis G90 and the Infiniti Q70-L. Since January, I've been looking at both of these but either the miles were too high or the interior was worn. The Q-70 is pretty rare in my area and the L modal is pretty much extinct!

Last week I found a Q70-L in Ft Meyers at a Carmax dealership. They actually had two! There was a 2017 with about 70k miles (that's more miles than I wanted) and a 2019 with under 40k miles. I called them on Thurs, reserved it, had my bank send them a check on Friday, and the lovely misses and I picked it up bright and early today. I also- sold them my 2009 and they gave me $4900. We dropped the Q70 at the car spa and they spent the whole day doing a paint correction and ceramic coating. Here are the first of the pics: Love the illuminated eyebrows above the headlamps!

I'd say you got a reincarnation of your old wag. Name it Phoenix. Congrats. Happy a happy time with it.

Congratulations. That looks great, and will feel familiar in a lot of ways.
New technology, with the same simplicity in maintenance and cheap reliability.

Congrats Larz! Great replacement!
I suspect that you will be doing the same one day soon. It's Infiniti's swan song flagship car and nothing like it will ever be available again.

I want one, just with the V8 and a lighter color interior. Hell I'd take the regular Q70S with the lighter interior and V8.

I've upgraded the license plate bulbs, the dome light, the under dash lights, the trunk light, and the rear reading lamps to LEDs. I've also replaced the welcome lamps in the bottom of the doors with ones that shine the Infiniti logo on the ground. I'm on the fence about upgrading the rear turn indicators to LED. They are the only non-LED bulbs left. I'm gonna try to figure how difficult / dangerous it will be for me to play around back there, LOL.

How is the Q70L compared to your old car? I've never driven the M56/Q70 but someone told me the road noise was noticeably louder compared to their M35.

Some of the road noise (as you know) is due to tire brand, type, and size. Aside from that, I'd say my Q70 is quieter than my M was. I use ultra high performance all season tires and my favs are Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 or Michelin Pilot sport. Tire Rack website has actual videos comparing different brands in the same category. My Q70L came with a brand called 'ironman' and based o-n the tire rack reviews I will either change to Ventus S1 noble2 or Continental Extreme DWS 06 PLus

My next car to add to my 09 M35S HR engine would be a 13 M56. Little concerned about the oil consumption and DI carbon on valves, but that V8 torque has to be awesome coming from the 3.5.
