I have been trying to figure out how to convert cfm's to lbs per hour all day and I cant find the conversion. Does anyone know?

you can't find a conversion because there isn't one. CFM is a measure of volumer per unit time. LB/hour is a measure of weight/time. Any conversion would depend on the density of the medium at that particular temperature. So this will from fluid to fluid. If you tell us what fluid medium you are converting at what temperature, then we could help you out.

True. Perhaps we can restructure the question and maybe it'll help anyway. Usually CFM (I assume air) is given in standard units--SCFM or standard cubic feet per minute. "Standard" air at 68*F and 1atm weighs .075 lbs/ft^3.

One cubic foot of air = .075 lbsAir flowing at 1 SCFM for 1 hour weighs (60*.075) = 4.5 lbs. 2 SCFM weighs 9 lbs after 1 hour 3 SCFM weighs 13.5 lbs after 1 hour, etc.

I guess he could be talking about air. He might also being trying to do this for fuel injectors?

Ok, I guess I got lost somewhere, but I am trying to read some compressor maps. I have the pressure ratio and I thought the other axis was either cfm's or lbs per hour. I guess i could use some direction now.

ill dig up one of my old posts on the subject.

there are a ton of calculations you need to do in order to match a turbo compressor map to a specific engine.

once the search engine starts working again, ill post a link.

its entirely too much to type all over again.
