So in my hunt to start adding Carbon Fiber to my car I've run across 3different hoods. Both use loops car in the picture though. I see http://www.duraflexbodykits.co....html, VIS Terminator hood, and the Extreme Dimensions hood (http://www.extremedimensions.com/10596.html). Anyone know which one Loop has?

I was looking at the hoods yesterday as well and noticed that Loops car was pictured. I'm interested in seeing the one that He got as well. I thinking about just getting regular duraflex and then doing my black and grey theme with vents.

The first and third ones that you listed are the same hood(duraflex and ED) Loop's hood is the Extreme dimensions hood, the material is duraflex (hence the first one) Personally, I would buy directly from ED's site which I linked above.

Loop has the ED hood. I've got the VIS Terminator hood. The ED has four vents whereas the VIS has three...

Scratch my last post, Im stupid. the two hoods are not the same. The duraflex hood and Carbon Creations ED hood are both sold by ED. The difference is, one is made of carbon fiber(pretty self explainitory) the other is made from duraflex. They have the same design with the 4 vents as ESP stated above. The CF on will have the CF weave look and the Duraflex one can be painted to match your car.

As for the quality of the material, there is a video of ED testing it on their website. It is a carbon fiber blend of materials, I think. Loop seems to swear by it. I personally have never seen it up close, but his pics look amazing.

Now see the first link shows what seems like the same ED hood for $100 less. It also says that it's carbon fiber and not duraflex. I have seen the Duraflex hood but the one i link seems to be the same as the ED... Just wanna make sure they are the same before i buy it.

Go to http://www.duraflexbodykits.com its the ED team they just have a different website set up with cheaper prices. If you look at the part numbers and pictures they are all the same. Good luck getting one though I already bought one from ED got it and was happy with it but got in car accident and had to order a new one it has been backordered for over a month its supposed to be in the 14th. Also I got there GT concept fenders and they fit ok but it took my body shop a long time to get them paintable. I dont knwo if its becuase of how little material there is but they were NO where near as flexable as they try to make the material seem in the video clips. You can tell its mostly fiberglass and I feel if they were to be hit they would crack before they flexd. I was going to get there bumper but after getting the fenders opted to just go with the entire Stillen kit.

WARNING! Possible stupid question ahead

From what I see, The ED hoods have vents that are open to the engine bay.

If my car was parked in the rain, would water get into my engine bay. Would the water reach my electronics? Would my Intake take in water?

Really been wanting to get the Carbon Fiber hood but just making sure I can still go out on a rainy day with no worries

You will get some rain in your engine bay but it wont hurt anything. Any electrical connections under the hood are waterproof and sealed. I have had mine for almost two months now and had no problems.

My hood cost way less than 600 but I think Loops stuff was given to him via sponsorship

Loops hood looks real nice in person. The way it was painted leaving the carbon fiber on the vents visible looks real good. Same with his trunk the lines came out real nice.

Looking to get a hood soon probably going to go the ED way since it's down the street from me so saves me a ton on shipping

a few questions on the topic:

1. from what i hear coupe and sedan's hoods are the same. If so why don't cf hood manufacturers don't advertise them as such? From links i saw it's either coupe OR sedan.

2. how much lighter is cf hood from stock one? What about duraflex (one that can be painted) ?

My stock hood got some damage on it so i'd like to get new one. Don't really want carbon fiber look so paintable one would be nice. If it's actually lighter then stock i'll concinder..... if not i'll keep my stock one for now.

Who knows? Probably just a marketing thing...

Not by much...but it is indeed heavier. I've never encountered a car with a stock hood that's as light as our coupes. When I pulled my hood off I was really surprised. One-handing it was absolutely effortless! The biggest benefit I find from the aftermarket hoods is the venting. I'll happily sacrifice an additional 5lbs in order to have a vented engine bay (especially with the QR which gets pretty damn warm...)

Hmmm...looks like the fitment is off by quite a bit on the right side. I'm not too sure how to adjust the hood...mine fit pretty much perfectly right off the bat.

did you have to drill any holes for the rubber adjusters and for the snapins for the side rubber pieces? Also Did you leave the plastic under the vents on and put your heat shield in?
