Saw this on ebay earlier today. Some guy from canada is selling CF hoods for $199. They are OEM style, no vent holes.

Only if shipping was cheaper and the location's not from Canada, I would jump on it! Horrible stories from international shipping..

And it's still 180 for shipping even to Canada... I don't think this would look good on my Silver Mist AC either...

Biggest question is obviously is it an OEM Hood just wrapped in CF or a TRUE CF Hood... I mean, afterall... people buy Carbon Fiber for the weight reduction.

He didn't really specify, so leaves room for interpretation...

Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd jump in and clarify something real quick. Unless your hood is steel you will unlikely see any gains from the weight of a carbon fiber hood. Unless of course you're using a dry carbon fiber hood in which case you'll be spending alot more than $200.00.

I believe the Altima coupe hood is aluminum so I would be very surprised if a carbon fiber hood was lighter. In fact, in most cases I've seen on the Z's and G's. The CF hoods were actually heavier than factory, they just looked cool.

I asked him if he could hook us up with some cheaper shipping and i wanted to know how legit they were.......

Dear djphenom78,

hi we molded from the original nissan hood and we produce more than 5000 hoods for many brands. check my feedback and you ask the buyers of our carbon hoods. thanks

Asked him if its overlayed or real CF............

Dear djphenom78,

top carbon fiber and bottom is glossy black unlike the cheap china made VIS or SEIBON. we made them in canada.thanks

not to happy since he cant compete with ED considering there basic hood is 500 this isn't much cheaper AND we dont know how "great" the quality really is

I mean hell MENDI if you could pick it up and send it to me for less ide prob LOVE YOU!!!!! lol

"we made them here in canada and we sell to many nissan dealers over here. they fit. we also made hoods for porsche, aston martin, mercedes, bmw so to make nissan hood is too easy.thanks"

I forgot to mention...I LOVE the look of carbon fiber. I just saw a post that mentioned light weight and wanted to jump in with an opinion on the matter.

Also, I can't speak for this particular company but it sounds like a CF hood with fiberglass inners. Basically what they do is lay down the CF, then the fiberglass inside, then another layer of CF for the underside to finish it off. That way it looks like a completely CF hood when in reality it is a CF/Fiberglass blend. Especially considering how cheap these hoods are I have to believe that's how they're doing it.

There is nothing wrong with this method and alot of companies do this. Just trying to offer my opinion for you guys. Keep in mind that STILLEN does not offer a CF hood for the Altima Coupe so this opinion is completely unbiased and just trying to inform.

so since the stock hood is in all likelihood lighter than a cf hood, what are peoples opinions on a cf vinyl overlay? it seems kind of "fake", ok maybe really fake, but in terms of look and weight reduction then it maybe a good option, as long as it's a good quality vinyl then it might be something to think about.

Guys, let's get this cleared up right now. LISTEN TO KYLE!!!I desperately feel the need to smack the individuals who get excited about a $200-$700 "CF" hood then wonder if it's real carbon fiber... Believe me...if it's true solid carbon fiber, it'll be worth just a little more than that...

Also, the stock hood is most definitely lighter than any vented CF aftermarket option we have available at this time...not significantly lighter, but lighter nonetheless. I can't speak for the weight of the OEM style CF hood, but at best you'd be breaking even. For alot of older vehicles (S13/S14's specifically come to mind...) any aftermarket option would be lighter than the cast iron sheets of metal they call hoods. More modern cars, however, take advantage of lightweight aluminum.

So...you want true weight savings? Spend $2000 and get your "solid carbon fiber" built...and reduce all of five pounds from our already lightweight OEM hood.

I'm gonna have to scream "NO" on this one. With an overlay, you get true depth to the finished product. Have you ever seen CF in real life? It's nice and deep and glossy and the patterns sort of "shift" as light hits it differently. That's because you're using a real textured fabric with several layers of resin on top. I think that'd be very hard to duplicate on a vinyl overlay...which, really, is just a big 'ol sticker...

To all Americans: Now you know how we feel buying ANYTHING from you. Don't complain about $180 for shipping something as large as a hood... My splitter cost almost $150 to ship...my hood was over $350...

Holy f*ck I'm in a pissy mood tonight........
