Depending on the mileage and condition of the car, the cost of certification may be as little as for the dealer to provide a CPO warranty. In the worst case, with worn out tires and brake and a thrashed interior, dealer's cost to bring the car to CPO standard will be significantly higher. But the bottom line is that dealer's cost to replace brake/tires, etc. is significantly lower than retail price.
If I have the option and the brake/tires, etc. looks good on the car, I would ask that the $900 be applied as a discount toward an Elite Extended Warranty because the CPO warranty apparently do not cover major electronic items.
