I don't think my 2006 M35 has any factory UV reduction glass, and I am interested in having the Ceramic window film installed to reduce UV and infrared, but I don't want to darken my windows. Does anyone have any pros/cons regarding the Hüper Optik Smart Window Films? Is $400 the typical cost? Before/After photos would also be helpful. Thanks!

Huper Optik is, by far, the best available to reduce UV. It is less tint than other metallic films, and does not darken the windows too much.

A lot of people here, including our CEO, Greg (AZhitman) recommend it highly!

Where can you purchase this Huper Optik you have mentioned? I would like to put in on the sunroof.

Formula One Pinnacle is also a full ceramic tint that blocks 99% ultraviolet and a large percentage of heat, based on which tint level film you choose-they offer 50,30 and maybe another option-check their website.the beauty of ceramic is that it doesnt interfere with cell, navagation, radar detector performance like a full metal film. both huper and this formula one are top of the line, expensive options that you must search hard for a dealer,as most just sell inexpensive dark dyed films to the ricer crowd.

Actually, Huper's formulation blocks 99% of Infrared rays that generate heat inside your car. It blocks UV but at less efficiency subsequently much less tinting occurswith this application. UV will fade colors. Infrared"heat" destroys leather and depletessynthetic materials in your interior

Takes very little to block short wavelength UVa and UVb waves.

Infrared is where the films are separated. as well as strength and lack of radio wavelength blocking.

Huper Optik was what I was looking at too for my 2007 M35, but the places around here carry SolarGard, Llumar, or Johnson Window Films.

For myself, I've narrowed it down to two places.

$275 for Llumar, computer cut$190 for SolarGard, normal install (razor, door panel removal)

Is the razor/door panel removal method really not as good for the car?

Its very rare that they will have to remove the door panel to install the tint. I have known a few tint guys and they rarely do it. Also check out 3M tint, thats what I have and I love it, I did little research as 3M was recommended by more than a few people to me, plus they make exceptional products.Cheers

Thanks for the info. I'd prefer not to have them remove the door panels or anything just to apply tint.

Do metallic tints significantly affect radio reception since the diversity antenna is on the back window? I'd prefer the metallic tints, but if it's going to totally screw up my radio reception, then I guess NR tint is the only way to go.

In my opinion, there may be a very very slight decrease in radio reception, but I have never had a problem with reception in my 2003 M45.

I decided to go with ceramic tint. Not many places offer Huper Optik. The one that did is a bit far from me and would cost $475. I found a place closer by that installs FormulaOne Pinnacle for $400, which is also a ceramic tint. From what I have read, there'd be no interference and it's higher heat rejection.

Thanks for the comments/advice.

Yes, it's the same German company that laminates the ceramic film into the glass of new Mercedes and BMW cars.

Hello,Huper Optik is amazing. It has been the best aftermarket purchase I have ever made. Thanks again Szhosain and AZ Hitman for the recommendation. It cost me $350.00 in Sarasota. I would guess due to the competition down here, prices are lower. Even little old ladies get tint down here.Cheers,Mark

Yes it is, ML, especially at night when you are not blind.

As to metallic tint films, it is not the car's antennae, but cell phone and radar detector performance degeneration that is the concern.

metallic tint will also shorten range of keyless remote transmitter, mess with portable gps dashtop units.
