just thought i'd take a moment and post up my experience. so i purchased my s14 a little over a year ago. the only problem was a slipping/old/worn clutch. so i went ahead and ordered a centerforce stage 2 clutch. it held up great for about 6 months. soon after i started to notice little things here and there. it would grind in 1st, 3rd, and reverse unless i shifted nice and slow. the weights on the pressure plate started making noise, kind of like rubbing/grinding. anyways i continued to drive the car. i replaced the slave and master cylinder, and that didnt help. i never beat on the car at all. i've gone to the track twice and maybe ran about 6-8 times. the only thing we've done is gone drifting twice also. anyway the other day i was driving and suddenly i couldnt get the car into any gear. the car smelled like clutch badly. i took the transmission off and the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel look i took a blow torch to them so all in all i'm dissapointed in centerforce. maybe i recieved a defective clutch? who knows. centerforce=garbage in my book. anyone else had a bad experiece with centerforce. oh and in case anyone is wondering i went ahead and installed a act clutch. hopefully this one holds up. even though i baby the damn car

did u have the flywheel resurfaced? was it installed properly? I had a cf dual friction and old school Mueler flywheel in my car for 3 years with a 125 shot, countless trips to the track, and ALOT of street racing, pulled it out with my motor to rebuild and turbo and is still in awesome shape, never had any noise's or problems what so ever. Back in the day when I was into Mustang's I had one in my car b/c anyone who's driven a stang with a Zoom or King Cobra knows u have to use two feet on the pedal, so I put A cf dual friction in that car with about 370 whp, and never had problems even after I sold it to a friend who drove it for 5 years after that. I'm a mechanic here in Houston and I've redone alot fo clutches that people have either put in themselves or had done, alot of time its the resurfacing of the flywheel that causes problems b/c some dumbass kid works at a machine shop and resurfaces ur flywheel and doesn't remeasure the cuts after he's done.

hmmmm very interesting. well i installed all the pieces correctly. maybe you're right, maybe it was the machine shop that cut the flywheel wrong. it wouldnt surprise me one bit. i took the flywheel to a different machine shop this time, so we'll see how that goes. car is perfect so far.

just wanted to say that when i did my engine rebuild i installed a stage 1 centerforce clutch and since that day i have had absolutly no problems with it. I abuse it every day, lol, and have been to the track once a week for a good 3 months and still no problems. Maybe you just got a bad one?

They are a NICO sponsor, so you would think that they would get on here and defend their product, offer group buys, etc.

In my opinion, ACT makes the best organic clutch disc out there.

thats what i've been hearing from a number of people. i'm hearing more and more about the flywheel beeing cut wrong as well. i'm assuming that was the problem considering the clutch was installed correctly. oh well. either way i'm not too upset anymore. when i installed the act clutch i noticed my lower ball joints were ready to snap, so something good came out of it.

bout 10-12 yrs ago the clutch to use was centerforce and I have seen that happen soooo many times. kinda like the disk exploded or shredded? like black hair and dust everywhere? I would get a disk from another manufacture or even the stock disk and use the cntrfrce pressplate. allways worked out that way

oh btw, we were pushing those clutches pretty hard. I never seen it happen on a clutch that wasnt pushed. I like the pressure plate though.
