The two center vents over the stereo head unit have two sets of fins to direct air flow. In the Y33, the outer set of fins are horizontal and can aim the airflow up and down. The inner set of fins are vertical and can direct the airflow from side to side. The fins, both horizontal and vertical, are connected to one another by a plastic bar that allows all fins to move in unison when the center fin adjustment "handle" is moved. The vertical fins on the car I just bought are disconnected from one another on both center vents. I took out the vent piece from the dash, took it apart and found the two plastic bars that are supposed to connect all of the horizontal fins. I was hoping the bar somehow snapped into slots on the fins, but that does not appear to be the case.

Has anybody else out there ever messed around with this same repair?

What did you do to reconnect the bar?

The obvious idea is to try to glue the bar back into place, but I wanted to check here first to see if anybody else has been down this road before with any success.

I just bought a spare center vent on ebay, just for the vent control tabs and as I started taking it apart, all of the flaps just fell apart (as in: they were not broken, just how the assembly was). So... If you take the whole center vent out, you should be able to reassemble everything, if nothing was broker. On a side note, I can ship you the disassembled center vent just for shipping costs.

Thanks for the offer. I glued mine back together and it has been working well enough, although still not perfect. The horizontal fins are working perfectly, but the vertical fins are not totally smooth in movement.
