For a long time I wanted to have a "OEM look" for a GPS/tablet installation in my 2010 Rogue. While browsing a local forum, I found a thread about adding GPS to a Hyundai Genesis 2.0T coupe with a "OEM look" (in Canada, the 2.0T apparently cannot be ordered with factory GPS):

I am interested in doing something similar. The Qashqai has a center vent bezel that contains a LCD screen which looks like it may fit on the Rogue:

Does anyone know whether this center vent bezel can be ordered from Nissan in Europe or Japan?

Thanks.

Verrrrry interesting...this gives me ideas.
Unfortunately, I have no idea if it can or can't, or if it'll fit.
But do keep us posted!

By the way, what size screen does that bezel allow for? 5"? 7"?

It should fit a 7" screen according to this:
http://www.ototrick.com/nissan-has-rele ... shqai/176/
2010 Nissan Qashqai front seats, front konsolBolshoy 7-inch information display when reversing the image shows the back of the camera, also shows instant fuel consumption, and the warranty service. Mode with the car radio supports MP3, Handsfree Bluetooth system and trip computer readings are also displayed on information display.
It'll be nice to fit a 7" Android tablet in that space.

I did notice one more thing though; on the Qashqai, it appears that unlike the 08-10 Rogue, the center vent bezel and the radio bezel is a one piece design, similar to the 2011.

Here's another photo:

Looks like someone may have tried it in Europe:

I like the way you think! I was thinking of trying to fit a Dell Streak 7 in there.

I see what you mean by it being 1-piece... Does almost look like if you got that whole piece, you could transplant everything from the 08-10 in there... Though, you would of course lose the center speaker. But if I could have an Android tablet on the dash, that clean/OEM-looking, it'd be worth it.
Is the bezel 1-piece all the way down to the gear shifter? Or does it stop at the 'curve' before the AC controls?

EDIT: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2007-NISSAN-QASHQ ... 2402wt_962 Interesting... So, it looks like maybe with some cutting and heavy modding it could work?

I don't care for the look of that screen. KInda spoils the look of the dash.

Now if you could design a motorized screen that disappears into the dash... that would be slick!

oh...

And a suggestion, if you wrap your image url's in IMG tags, you can embed the image in your post. I've done one for you in your first post.

Thanks for the tip regarding the images.

As for a motorized screen that disappears into the dash, i doubt there's enough room under the vent.

I think it's 1-piece that goes to the 'curve'.

As for the satnav unit on ebay:

it's missing the bezel I am interested in.

Ideally, I want the bezel for the center vent with the LCD housing (without the screen) attached.

Ahhh...yeah, you're right. What I found wasn't the same setup...

I've been looking online for a place to order replacement UK parts, but have found no such luck yet...

Find someone who can do fibreglass work. There is already one very fine example of what is possible:

Want to revive this old thread to see whether anyone was interested in doing this modification.

I just replaced my stock radio to today with a Pioneer FH-P8000BT head unit. While I was installing the unit, I had the idea of getting a spare center vent bezel (preferably one with the cut-out of a center speaker) and placing a GPS mount in the void area normally occupied by a center speaker (which I don't have in my Canadian 2010 SL AWD). I am thinking about getting a AIO GPS unit with rear camera input support (such as this) and connect an aftermarket camera unit to it. Then I want to literally "top off" the unit with some sort of plastic lid and painted along with the rest of the original bezel to have an appearance that resembles the photos in my first post.

Routing power to the GPS unit should be straight forward by tapping into one of the existing 12V wires.

What do you all think?

I need part #3 in the diagram below for this mod:

Image

Courtesy Nissan has this part as 68260-S35002 or 68260-S35003:

At over $100, it seems pretty expensive for this one bezel/lid.

I think I may have found the part I originally wanted:

On the top right it has all the parts for the navigation pieces. But looking at each component, I am concerned that I won't fit a North American Rogue.

Hello everyone! I've been visiting this forum for a while now and never actually created an account and posted until now. Figured it's about time.

I worked on this project about a year ago. I recently removed the tablet to use for other purposes and until I have time to make a better bracket to hold it in place. I gotta say though, this is by far the coolest thing I've done to this car.

Will have more pics and procedures sometime soon when I have the time. I took this picture about a year ago when I had it working. I will be replacing it (Hopefully with a nexus 7) but im trying to find a way to mod the nexus 7 Pogo pin dock into my car for easy removal.
