Sorry, topic should be to Small on the new rims...my hub is to big for them. Got it backwards.
Has anyone else ever had this problem and if so, what did you do about it?
I bought a set of Modo MD1's wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza's 245/35/ZR-19's and once i got them and cleaned them up(seller told me ahead of time they weren't cleaned), I put the front two on to see how they looked.
I had noticed when trying to put them on they weren't seeded as well as stock ones, but I just thought, They aren't stock so they aren't going to fit as well. So I just dismissed it and didn't think anything of it......until I pulled out of my driveway to see how they ran. They were wobbly as HELL. Scared the s*** out of me and my buddy in the car. We went about 100 yards turned around and immediately pulled back in the drive way to look and see what the problem was. Pulled the rim off and after about 30 mins of looking at the damn things, figured out the center bore on the rims are 2mm to small(Rims came off an Acura TL '07 w/ a center bore of 64.1 and Coupes are 66.1). After hours of researching and figuring this out(the actual size difference), I was trying to see if anyone has shaved down the center bore of a rim. Yea, yea, I know about structural integrity but the rim seems to have an "insert" for different size hubs and does not seem to be truly connected to the rim.
So, what i'm asking is: 1. Can the center bore "insert" be taken out?(or is it really an insert?)2. Can it be easily shaved down with a drimel?(numerous sites had people just shaving it down)3. How much would it cost at a shop to get 2mm's of metal shaved off if 1 or 2 isn't feasible?4. How the HELL do you read the code on the back of a rim to find out the size of the center bore to know from the get go if the SoB will fit on your car?!?!
Otherwise the rims look AWESOME on my car and I'm really hoping I don't have to sell them cause I got a great deal on them.
Oh, and I'm going to have to replace the lug bolts cause we stripped them tightening the piss out of the lugs trying to get the rim on there tight....didn't notice at the time the gap between the rim and brake caliber.
