center drive shaft bearing and u joints

my 240 is making a really bad noises coming from under the car, it sounds like a sqweeking and like a clunking noise. i check every thing down there fluids and all no loose bolts or anything. even the u joints look ok. what do you guy think? im gonna pull the drive shaft this after noon when i get out of work. if i cant see anything that looks bad when its off what should i look for, or how can i tell if its bad, like to test it or something.

you're just checking for play in the joints.

thanks i will post what i find out tomarrow. oh and same goes for the center drive shaft bearing, just check for play.

so i got it off and the u joint right after the transmission is jacked. its hard to move. and as for the center bearing im not too sure it seems ok but when i spin it by hand i can here the bearings rolling a little bit and theres very little play. guess what though the bracket that holds the center bearing in place and bolts to the body was a bi@tch to take out. its cuz who ever had the car before me replaced the drive shaft and who ever put those bolts in (the ones that bolt that bracket to the chassis) cross threaded them and when i was trying to take it out the the welded nut broke loose and so the bolt was just spining freely. so then i had pull it and wedge it through the whole and it came together. now im thinking of getting a one piece drive shaft, or im gonna have to have someone weld a bolt in. sucks

an sugestions on that center bearing, and i just bought a u joint but wont be hear till tomarrow. the u joint that needs to be replaced seems as if it was pressed in and the new one looks like it will hace locking clips to hold the joint in place. has any body replaced there u joints on the drive shaft before, can u give me some pointers.

anyone. im gonna be doing it this weekend and i aint gonna have access to computer to see if any one has pointers for me.
