The USB port on my car appears to be broken, or at least bent. A USB stick still fits in, and works, but it's very loose and sometimes falls out when going over a speed bump. I tried looking in there, and the little metal "frame" on the female end of a USB connector seems to be split in half. Does anyone know how to take that port out? Can it be pulled out through the compartment, or would it require disassembly of entire mid section just to get at it? I'm guessing the previous owner somehow damaged it since I don't have anything else in there except for a charger. Any pointers or experience?

Check in the factory Service Manual under the "IP" (Instrument Panel Section) There are instructions to take everything apart...

Wouldn't it be easier to get a usb extender cable from the 99 cent store and tape the end in place?

Thanks for the picture and the tip. I think I will be doing the strip down when it gets warmer so plastics aren't brittle.

An extension might work, but feels too ghetto for my liking. It shouldn't be hard to fix as long as I can actually access it.
