I have a 93 q that the stereo and the lighter in the center counsel are dead? I have checked all the fuse in the compartment and pretty good with 12 volt systems, just looking for a starting point. Also, While I have your attention (haha) Do I need to use the old style freon to charge the air or can I use 134a instead? As far as I know it was never swapped over. Thanks in advanceP.S. This forum is the best, as soon as I stop Sinking money in my Q I will donate to this site(dont hold your breath thou, it could be a while)

Wow you have a center counsel? Do they give you advice on what gear to use and such???

Anyway, if the center console is dead it is probably a fuse, i cant think of anything else it could be. Did you swap fuses and/or double check for continuity?

As far as the refrigerant, there should be a sticker on the drivers side shock tower that will tell you waht it was charged with.

I know many 93MY's of other vehicles were charged with R134 but Im not sure if the 93 Q was or not.

You know what I mean. (smarta*# ) It has the bose system the lights work when the driving lights are on, but the radio itself will not light up or play. Is it possible there is a fusable link or something of this nature that I should be looking for? Also, the antenna (motorized) is broke, it is bent, would there be some type of relay that would shut the radio down?

The ciggy lighter and the head unit both go through the ELEC DEVICE fuse. The cigarette lighter goes basicsally directly from that. Double check that fuse and swap with another 10A fuse (cruise control maybe) or something else that you know works and go from there.

Ill look a bit more closely at the wiring diagrams a little later this evening....

The "ciggy lighter" has seperate fuses one for the front(10 amp) and on for the back(20amp) both replaced as well as the ELECT DEVICE fuse and two AUDIO fuses and still nothing. I really need a scymatic? is there on out there somewhere I can view online or where can I buy a shop manual?

Qquick question is you compressor engaging. if not then try to hot wire it to see if it is your CC panel not switching.

I have replaced all the fuses that deal with the Bose HU, and still nothing? There is a CD changer in the trunk (sony) that is working fine. My question is: is there a external amp for the bose system with some type of trigger wire that would shut down the HU? Would the antenna relay do this as well? How hard is it to take the dash apart?

Easy- Gently pry up the shifter surround piece at the bottom edge with a padded screwdriver . It's only held in by pawls. From there it's pretty straightforward. You'll see the few screws holding in the Bose/AC trim piece and the screws/bolts to remove the head unit.

Everytine I read this, I wonder if he has a left and a right counsel also?

Please will a moderator spell console correctly so this will be a useful topic for a search.

And we wonder why everything is being built somewhere else? Maybe no one can read the instruction manuals anymore.

If you could post a schematic on this, that would be a beautiful thing! Thanks in advance,Patrick

Does the HU come on but no sound? If so theres a relay behind the ECU that may need some attention.,

No, the bose HU is completely lifeless, except the cluster illumination.
