Center Consol Plastic

Recently I replaced the center console (plastic part that goes around the shifter) on my 1989 240sx. The old piece was a dark black colour and was destroyed by thieves. I ordered a new part from Nissan and there is apparently just one colour available. The new part does not match the old - the new one is grey. Has anybody on the list had experience trying to match this piece.
